The good old Cburnett knight has served us well, but it was not truly our logo. We always wanted something unique and distinctive for Lichess, and we finally found it.

This new logo is the work of a mysterious Lichess enthusiast who goes under the name of sadsnake1 on GitHub. You can find the entire feedback loop and more drafts on GitHub.

We will soon be updating our mobile app, merch store, press kit and everything, to make use of our new logo.

As if it was not enough, our favourite designer also created 7 unique piece sets for Lichess!

The 7 new piece sets are highlighted.

They are called Maestro, Fresca, Cardinal, Gioco, Tatiana, Staunty and Dubrovny. You can find them near the bottom of the piece selector. Let us know which one is your favourite!
